Avi Z. Kestenbaum, Co-Chair of Meltzer Lippe’s Trusts & Estates practice group will be a speaker at Webinar #1 of the Shenkman Winter Webinar Series entitled “10 practical, but overlooked, pointers when doing estate planning.”

Often times estate planners are so focused on their gift and estate tax driven techniques– they forget the more important “big picture” drafting and planning issues. Issues involving family disputes, business and partnership disagreements, income taxes, business continuity and asset protection can and will wreak far more havoc to an estate plan than gift and estate taxes. Additionally, many planners aren’t well trained, well versed, or experienced with understanding or dealing with these crucial concepts, many of which cannot be found in any articles or lectures. Furthermore, many estate planners don’t understand what is truly most important to their clients and therefore, their clients aren’t happy with their advisors even after a “successful” estate plan is implemented.

These top ten practical pointers, in the presenter’s opinion, are most often overlooked and under discussed, yet so critical to the true success of the estate plan and the client’s and family’s happiness. These pointers will be helpful to both new and experienced practitioners, as well as to all professionals in the estate planning field, including financial consultants, wealth managers, accountants, life insurance agents and attorneys. The presentation will also be less dry than a typical presentation and will contain real world cases and examples, and perhaps some controversial and thought-provoking statements.
