Trusts & Estates Attorney
Candidate must have at least 5 years of sophisticated Trust & Estate experience such as sales to grantor trust, GRATS, SCIN, private annuities, general experience with business entities and knowledge of estate administration. Business is not required.
Our Trust and Estate Department provides high level and complex tax, estate planning and asset preservation for executives of major public and private companies, successful entrepreneurs and business owners, high net worth individuals, multi-national businesses, and many non-profit institutions, including substantial international planning. The department has 17 attorneys and received a Tier 1 ranking by US News and World Report. Our services in this field include asset preservation; wills and trusts; family limited partnerships; dynasty trusts; business succession planning; international estate planning; testamentary trusts and intervivos trusts; installment sales; state domicile and residence issues; charitable organizations and their for-profit affiliates; estate gift and generation-skipping transfer taxes; elder law; personal tax planning; life insurance and charitable trust; estate tax motivated partnership and asset planning; restructuring; post mortem estate planning and probate of estates.
Candidate must be a senior tax lawyer with an LLM and top academic credentials. Areas of experience must include partnership, corporate and foreign taxation.

Candidate must have minimum 3-5 years state and federal court experience. For 8 weeks after your first or second year of law school, you can experience what it would be like to work at Meltzer Lippe. Following a short orientation, you may work in several of our departments, depending on your interests.
Under the supervision of experienced attorneys, you will make meaningful contributions to ongoing projects and research. You will be exposed to various ares of the law; attend closings, court appearances, depositions, and negotiations; and participate in drafting and strategy discussions. In addition, networking opportunities, one-one-one time with senior partners, and the opportunity to publish an article will be available to you.
Associate and partner mentors will work closely with you over the course of the program. Summer associates receive assignments from the departments in which they are interested. Summer associates receive challenging assignments, and work alongside partners and more senior associates.
The Summer Program includes periodic activities outside the office, opportunities to attend legal workshops and summer social outing with senior attorneys.
